Sharing1 / 7

Sometimes I play with my friends.

We like playing together.

The story

  1. Page 1

Sometimes I play with my friends.

    We like playing together.

  2. Page 2

My friend might want to play with my toy too.

    That is okay.

  3. Page 3

Sharing means we take turns with the toy.

First one of us plays, then the other.

  4. Page 4

I can say when I will be done.

“You can have it after me.”

  5. Page 5

Waiting for my turn can feel hard.

I can take a deep breath while I wait.

  6. Page 6

When it is my turn, my friend gives me the toy.

    That feels good.

  7. Page 7

Sharing makes playing together more fun.

    We can play for longer.

When to use this story

Read it before playdates, at the start of daycare or school, or before visiting cousins. Practicing with a timer at home can make turns feel predictable.

Tips

  1. 1Use a visual timer for turns, so your child can see when their turn will come.
  2. 2Start with toys that are easier to share, and keep a favorite toy just for your child.
  3. 3Praise the waiting, not just the giving: “You waited for your turn.”
