When to use this story

Read it before school, group activities or family gatherings, when there will be lots of people close together. It helps to practice the “arm's length” check together afterwards.

Tips

  1. 1Use a hula hoop or a rope circle at home to show what personal space looks like.
  2. 2Practice saying “Please move back a little” so your child has the words ready.
  3. 3Let teachers know which words you use, so the message is the same at school.
